This gem of a venue is located just off Peak 9 in Breckenridge – meaning there is a ski lift literally right outside the front door. The views surrounding the ceremony site are just epic!

We loved the unique details including a dazzling gold sweetheart table, custom camping mugs for each guest (emblem illustrated by the bride!), and the Polish tradition of sharing of bread, salt, and vodka between the newlyweds.

Congrats to this amazing couple, and thank you for choosing us to help plan your Breckenridge wedding!

Chatfield Botanic Gardens | Stunning Watercolor Wedding

Save the Date Events had the pleasure of designing a wedding around the bride and groom’s artistic flare. Their love of art lead the way for our watercolor inspired design. Watercolor invitations wrapped in gift boxes arrived at each guest’s doorstep to set the mood and style a few months before the wedding day.

The ceremony site was adorned with stunning flowers. Guests enjoyed parasols for shade that we placed on each guest chair. After the ceremony, guests moved to cocktail hour complete with eclectic vintage seating vignettes, lawn games, a teepee, and market lights.

After cocktail hour, guests found their hand painted escort cards that were strung across a wall of luxurious greenery. Once guests found their seats inside the tent according to their custom cut glass place cards, they enjoyed a splendid four course dinner, served in style with synchronized service. The dinner menus were printed on the guest napkins and placed at each place setting with stunning centerpieces and gold flatware to compliment the table design. Following dinner, guests feasted on a fabulous dessert bar including a gorgeous hand painted watercolor wedding cake. The band Rockslide kept the dance floor packed all night.

We were honored to plan such a fabulous event for SG and Dave and wish them a lifetime of love and happiness!

10 Year Anniversary Continued

As we continue to celebrate Debbie and all that she has accomplished, we wanted to share a few words from some of the industry pro’s who have been with Debbie from the beginning. To top it off we searched the archives for some pictures of Debbie from the past. (Thanks Chris!) Enjoy!

Debbie Orwat is simply one of the most positive, uplifting and inspiring people I have ever known. I honestly believe that the Colorado wedding world is encouraging of others because Debbie told us to be that way.  Leading by example, Debbie is the first one to celebrate another planners success, to be honest and open when anyone has a question and always has a really really good story to share.  I am lucky to call her a friend.

The first time we met back in 2008, we were both new moms establishing our companies, balancing work and life. I remember trying to find a time that would work for both of us without the kids and in the end we decided to let them tag along. It was a bit of a juggling act watching two kids as while we shared what our companies were all about and our goals for the future. But what I remember most was that our meeting was filled with laughter (as Tyler ran across the couch) and support for each other. You are such an inspiration to so many people. And the best roomie a girl could have for Engage. Thank you so much for sharing such amazing opportunities with me and helping me grow in both my business and personal endeavors.

I vividly recall the first wedding that we worked together on at Grant Humphrey’s Mansion, although I cannot recall the specific date. (I am guessing it was in 2005 or 2006?) Until that day, my little experience with wedding planners (you were not as prevalent then!) was that they typically added chaos to the day (and a touch of drama) and seemed to avoid the lifting and set up responsibilities.

I immediately noticed your calm demeanor and organized manor on-site. Even better, I noted your insistence that yes, you could easily relocate the six small hanging aisle arrangements after the ceremony to the mantle, which ultimately meant I could go home. As you can imagine, I was a one-woman show then and that gift of two hours of time was gold (particularly because I likely did not charge the client enough or my time anyway).

You were a pleasure to work with and you, you alone completely changed my outlook on wedding planner capabilities. Since then, I have watched you orchestrate much larger and more complicated orders with the same calm demeanor, the same organized manor, and now with the grace of a decade of experience. Some of my favorite weddings with you include Liz and Travis’ Steamboat ranch extravaganza (what wasn’t to love?!), Jessica and Mike at Crooked Willow Farms (those bright summer colors!) and Jenni and Brett at the Broadmoor (those elaborate centerpieces!). I have countless other wonderful memories and photographs of events that I have worked with your team on as well.

I also recall our lunch at Stella years ago when you shared that you had really exciting new business news… what was soon to be StudioWed. Many have tried to replicate your idea, but few have succeeded. Congratulations on ten years of success. I hope you take a moment to pause and reflect and be proud of yourself for your awesome work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.

10 Year Anniversary

Screen Shot 2015-09-16 at 3.48.47 PM

2015 is a big year for Save the Date Events, we are celebrating 10 years in the Colorado Events Industry. As many of you know, Debbie doesn’t often brag about herself, so we ( Brynn, Amber and Gabby) decided to do it for her! Over the past ten years, Debbie has achieved many goals that most entrepreneurs hope to achieve in a lifetime: She has flawlessly executed hundreds of weddings in her career. She has built a strong team that embodies her vision of professionalism, creativity and design excellence.

Debbie has transformed her work from her first years in business, when floating candles and daisies were all the rage, to a highly sought after Design Company that is now setting trends in the industry. While building Save the Date into the successful brand that it is today, she also launched Planner’s Lounge, a nationwide resource for planners, and StudioWed a local resource for event professionals.  We are proud to say that we knew Debbie back then and are honored to work with her now.

Now for a look back at our team from the past 5 years.

gabby and debbie

When I first met Debbie, it was in a Starbucks at Barnes & Noble. Now, every time I return to that location, I think of how grateful I am to the hands of fate for connecting us. Back then, Debbie was a strong and ambitious new business owner, and I had just left my hometown and was striking out on my own. I marveled at her incredible talent, and knew immediately that she was someone I wanted to work with. Since that time, Debbie has continued to impress her colleagues, her friends, and her competitors with her creativity and skill. She has the intrinsic ability to mentor, and has provided guidance to many individuals in our industry.

Debbie is one of the best leaders I have had the honor of knowing – patient, flexible, kind, and supportive are just some of the words that come to mind when describing Deb. Not only am I lucky to have known Debbie for almost a decade, but I have personally and professionally grown from our relationship and I will be forever grateful. I am so excited to be collaborating with the strongest professional team I have ever worked with and am thankful to Debbie for bringing us all together. Cheers to Debbie and Save the Date Events for reaching TEN SUCCESSFUL YEARS, and to bringing many more clients’ dreams come to life!

Brynn and Debbie

I first worked with Debbie as a vendor with a catering company. I had the pleasure of working with many different industry professionals and when I started working with Save the Date Events  I was impressed with the level of creativity Debbie and Gabby put into every event. I was immediately attracted to how she seemed to empower Gabby to be the guiding force for her events but not necessarily manage her work. I knew that I loved working with her as apart of her vendor team on wedding days and never dreamed I could be part of the Save the Date Team. After leaving my past job I reached out to Debbie and from the very first meeting I knew that this was where I was supposed to be. We connected on many business ideas and I knew that I would learn a tremendous amount from Debbie.

Since joining the team I have seen Debbie’s leadership style first hand. She is always there to lend a helping hand, a great ear when you need advise, and is an amazing person to bounce ideas off of,.She has a keen sense for recognizing peoples strengths and encouraging them to grow both personally and professional . She has enabled me to be the confident planner that I am today. It has been a crazy five years full of laughter, learning and fabulous events! I am forever grateful that she gave me the chance to play a small role in the Save the Date story.

Much Love,
Brynn Swanson

Amber and Debbie

I was inspired by Debbie’s vision for Save the Date Events the moment I stumbled upon her website. And I remember thinking, the first day I met her at a coffee shop in Denver, that she was just as inspirational and creative in person.
I knew then that she was someone special, and I wanted to be a part of what she was doing.
In the 5 years since that day, she has proven to be just that and more. Her sweet, supportive personality has given me the encouragement and confidence to do what I love. I can never thank her enough for that.
I couldn’t be more proud of Debbie, our team, and the company she has built over the last 10 years. Cheers to our fearless leader!

Thanks for the memories Debbie and Congratulations on 10 fabulous years!

Kevin Taylor Opera House Wedding | 1920s Glam Wedding

When we first met with Alexis and Scott, their energy and love was just infectious. We were beyond excited when they told us they wanted to plan a 1920’s theme wedding. We didn’t want to take the design so far that it felt like a costume party, but we wanted guests to feel like they were transported into an era of dancing, creative libations, and great food, all in a speakeasy style.

The ceremony set the tone with a wall of lights behind the stage with a baby grand piano in the corner. The bride carried a custom broach bouquet and the bridesmaids carried amazing feather fans instead of traditional flowers. With the help of Design Works, we transformed the Kevin Taylor Opera House into the perfect 1920’s speakeasy. We utilized candles and mirrors to create a romantic glow and custom made a 7′ tall bar sign that was a focal decor point in the room.

Pink champagne bottles served as escort cards and table numbers. Guests enjoyed a tasty cake that was designed to match their amazing art deco invitations. Guests had a blast in the photo booth. After dinner, the dance floor was the place to be! So much so that the bride and groom couldn’t stop dancing to sign their marriage license so we made it official by signing the paperwork on a groomsmen’s back on the dance floor!

The bride and groom did a grand exit to a stream of silver poppers and hopped on their getaway pedicab. We had a blast planning this wedding and wish Alexis and Scott a lifetime of love and dancing on the tables!

McNichols Building Denver | Wedding Planners

When we first meet with a couple, we often ask them if they have a color palette in mind or inspiration for their wedding day. Sam and Ali didn’t really have an idea of what they wanted, they just knew that they wanted their friends and families to have a great time. During the interview process, we learned that one of their favorite things to do is to grab a margarita and sit out on a nice patio at a neighborhood hangout. We thought this would be the perfect inspiration for their wedding.

It was a fun challenge to transform a modern space like the McNichols Building into a backyard reception. Guests enjoyed a signature margarita during cocktail hour, a recipe that the bride got from her favorite eatery. To find their seats, guests used Denver pennies to scratch off their table number!

Bistro lighting, large kings tables, and lush greenery helped set the scene for the reception on the third floor. Following the fabulous meal, everyone gathered on the dance floor and danced the night away.

It was just a pleasure working with Ali and Sam to create their perfect “ patio wedding” in downtown Denver. We wish them a lifetime of happiness and laughter!
