Whimsical Elegant Denver University Club Wedding

When we learned that Kayla and Alex had begun their journey together at a hot air balloon festival, we were so inspired to find a way to incorporate this fanciful image, as well as their love of travel, into their elegant Holy Ghost Church wedding, with the wedding reception at the Denver University Club. Our imagination ran free as we conjured up a dozen ways to bring this flight of fancy into the decor and overall feel of the wedding. The crowning jewel was a beautiful lighted hanging hot air balloon sculpture created by Scott Hittleman, of Lighting by Scott, which we hand draped with fabric in the couple’s colors of cream, purple, and gold, and festooned with flowers.

The balloon hung directly over the dance floor, and added such magic to the rich wooded atmosphere of the beautiful University Club. We added touches of whimsy throughout – vintage travel postcards we scattered on the dinner tables, vintage suitcases held the cake and escort cards, and hot air balloon cake pops complemented the cake table. Kayla herself made adorable hot air balloon centerpieces, which were filled with flowers by Love Letters Floral. 20160409_162934_001 20160409_172117_00120160409_164150_001We also wanted to honor Alex’s recent graduation from the firefighter academy and added something just for him – a getaway transportation in the form of a vintage firetruck!20160409_145515 20160409_145451_001The couple had huge fun cruising downtown Denver in the open air cab!

We had the most incredible time working with Emily, Todd, and their families to plan this luxury wedding at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Denver. From choosing the perfect venue, to creating the overall design, to multiple meetings with each event professional, we loved planning and designing this event.

The bride loves the color purple which we used in various shades along with silver and “bling” to create a luxurious atmosphere for this wedding. The ceremony and reception included white draping, uplights, pin-spot lighting, specialty linens, chair accents with sashes and rhinestone broaches, custom menu cards and table numbers, an incredible amount of gorgeous florals, and more. Guests enjoyed a delectable dinner followed by an evening of entertainment with both a band and a DJ.

Thank you to our incredible team of event professionals who worked hard to create this outstanding event:

Pine Colorado Wedding | Meadow Creek B&B

Denver wedding planners

You would never guess from all of the warm smiles and love all around that this spring wedding was actually very cold! Oh, Colorado spring weather.

Kelli and Kevin’s natural, organic-style wedding took place at Meadow Creek Bed & Breakfast in Pine, Colorado. The ceremony was held along a tree-lined pasture that was a perfect setting for their intimate moment with family and friends.

Following the beautiful ceremony was a reception filled with the most adorable details hand-created by the talented bride and groom. (It helps that the bride is a very talented photographer/blogger and the groom a graphic designer!)

We were so honored to be part of this day with the bride, groom, and their loved ones. We wish you many, many years of love, peace, and happiness in your lives ahead.

Starry Night Photo Shoot

From the designer, Amber:

For this wedding styled shoot, I wanted to speak to those artsy couples who love to spend their weekends strolling through museums and whose itch for travel has brought them steps away from maybe the Mona Lisa or the Colosseum. But most of all, I wanted to show brides that they can take their love for absolutely anything — even if it’s different, edgy, or artistic — and bring it to life on their wedding day.

To demonstrate this idea in the styled shoot, I chose the dreamy painting Starry Night by Van Gogh to serve as a muse. I wanted to capture the intense colors, movement, textured brush strokes, and iconic shapes within the painting and reflect those signature elements in each aspect of the shoot.

The amazing vendor team and I decided to put a lot of emphasis on lighting to act as the stars falling from the sky and swirling in the surrounding space. From there we just tried to follow the colors, atmosphere, and shapes in the painting by using shades of deep blue, green, yellow, and texture where we could.

Intricate Icings recreated different scenes from the painting and carefully painted them onto each section of the cake. Each section of the painted cake was placed on a shelf and then suspended from the ceiling for a three-dimensional effect that allowed the cake to double as both dessert and art. Plum Sage Flowers included a mix of fresh and tissue paper flowers in blue glass to bring texture and depth to the scenery as well as keeping the arrangement in a swirling shape on the table.

We chose two brides for this shoot in order to show a contrast between a more traditional, textured white gown (Vera Wang) and a dramatic dark-blue gown (Tara Latour, for the more daring bride).

One of my favorite moments of this shoot was when the photographers, Harper Point Photography, projected a large image of the actual painting onto a wall of draped ivory fabric. It really felt like the models were briefly whisked away into a live version of the painting!

We hope a shoot like this can inspire brides to really take something they love in life, whether it is an art piece, music, food, or a special location, and carry it out on their wedding day. This concept can really transform your wedding into a different world and truly bring your dreams alive on your special day.

Holly & Seth are engaged!

Thank you SO much to Fuse Photographic for these stunning and adorable photos of Holly & Seth’s engagement shoot. These two are so skilled at art and design, and love incorporating their love of a beautiful aesthetic into their wedding at Chatfield Gardens in August.

I am dying over the ice cream and the vintage Polaroid shots, and cannot stop laughing at their adorable faces inside their initials – too funny!

This engagement shoot is funky fresh and I am loving it! Thanks again to Holly & Seth, and the talented Fuse Photographic!
