We are so excited for the 2017 wedding season – for both our existing clients and those we will soon meet!
This time of year we are always flooded with information about “Wedding Trends” for the coming season. Everywhere you look there are articles and blogs about what is “trending” for the coming year, or what trends are over, what trends to avoid, etc. etc.
Our advice? Be skeptical of anything with the word “trend” in it! Often it is just someone’s idea of the opposite of something that was “trendy” last year. For example, we have seen blogs claiming that white weddings are out, and therefore more colorful weddings are what’s in. Says who? And the risk is that if you try too hard to be trendy, or to avoid things that you are afraid are not trendy, you’re not going to be happy with the result.
Wedding design is much like clothing and accessories: there is fashion, and then there is style. Fashion is a designer’s idea of what will interest and excite the marketplace. Style, on the other hand, is intrinsically about who you are as a person, and represents the image you want to present to the world about yourself, consciously or unconsciously.
So if you and your fiance are most comfortable in cowboy boots and hats, and it reflects your personality and lifestyle, it will always be “in” – and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! The same goes for any other look that is “you,” whether it be vintage, rustic, glam and pizzazz, or romance and lace. Chances are that someone, somewhere, will have an opinion on whether or not it is “trendy” – ignore it!
At Save the Date! everything we do is about bringing your personality and your style to your wedding. And we guarantee that, just as there is only one you, your wedding is not going to be like anyone else’s!
Happy planning and have a blessed 2017!
