We all know the Italian movies that show the huge family dinners and the family welcoming everyone into their home and stuffing them with good food and love. This pretty much describes Lauren and Santino’s families perfectly. They wanted to make sure that their wedding was intimate and that every guest felt special and like they were walking into their home with great food and music.

Vail has always been an important place to Lauren and Santino and they knew that was where they wanted to say “I do.”  After the full week of crazy rain storms, there was not a cloud in the sky for the ceremony on the Vail Wedding Deck. As I said before, family is important to the couple and that includes their furry family members.  For the first time ever at Save the Date Events, we had five dogs in the ceremony. The two shepherds sat at the ceremony site (instead of flowers). Two of their lovely dogs led the ring bearers down the aisle and the smallest pup was carried by the flower girls.

After the ceremony, guest arrived at Donovan Pavilion for an evening of dancing and great food. The mood was set with lots of warm up-lighting around the natural wood room. We hung bistro lights from the peak of Donovan which cascaded down the windows to create a dramatic setting for dance pictures. The florals were handmade by a very talented family friend and the groom made personal wedding touches including the table numbers, Mr. and Mrs. signs on the chairs and the wine glasses. Guests found their seats by locating their names that were hand written on aspen leaves. Everyone enjoyed an authentic Italian family-style meal from Footers Catering paired perfectly with wines from Peak Beverage.  Intricate icings crafted a beautifully elegant cake that guests devoured before dancing the night away to the Jonny Mogambo Band.

It was so much fun working with Lauren and Santino.  I truly felt like part of the family throughout the planning process. I wish Lauren and Santino a lifetime of laughter, family, and of course great food and wine!

Look for this wedding on the cover of the upcoming edition of Colorado Weddings Magazine!
