I had a meeting last night with a client at the hotel where they are having their reception. The bride hired me recently, after most of the planning had been done. They signed the venue contract last year and were given an estimate for food along with the costs. The hotel decided to significantly raise their prices and will not honor the pricing they gave her last year. Guess what? I’ll never recommend this venue. My bride is on a budget and now has to spend a much larger amount for the same dinner. She’s upset. I’m annoyed. Unfortunately, the contract was signed before she hired me. Otherwise, I would never let a bride sign a contract saying, “Rates are subject to change.” When you sign your catering/venue contract, the pricing should be included.
