I always love looking back at client pictures after the wedding. When I was looking through these I was reminded of how much fun we had during the planning process. Kate and Chris were quite possibly one of the funniest couples I have ever worked with. From discussions of pirate cakes to beers in the welcome bags, to extreme activities before the wedding, the planning process was filled with laughter and fun.
Kate and Chris wanted to create a true destination experience for their guests, from white water rafting, to zip lining, to fly fishing, to a volleyball game, their guests had a full Colorado experience. I am not going to lie, when they told me they wanted to do all of these things I thought it would be fun and then I thought about the bruises from rafting, possibility of people going overboard, the sunburns from volleyball and the possible mishaps with zip lining. I told them it sounds like a blast but I expect all of them to be in one piece on the day of the wedding. They all made it to the wedding with some sunburns, a few bruises and more importantly, lots of amazing stories to tell about the activities, including the bride falling out of the raft!
When it came to the wedding Kate wanted to merge rustic touches with a bit of elegance and wanted her guests to have an amazing time. We used the beauty of Devil’s Thumb Ranch to inspire the design. We kept the linens simple but ordered custom made damask napkins that we wrapped in twine for a bit of a modern/rustic touch. The amazing florals from Statice Floral were mainly white soft flowers with pops of bright anemones throughout. The tables were named after places that were important to Kate and Chris. Both the escort cards and table numbers had a faint image of the mountains. Statice Floral also hung almost 100 candle-lit mason jars from the ceiling and around the room to bring a bit of sparkle to the evening. We added hanging floral designs from the ceremony to add a bright touch to the natural landscape.
Guests enjoyed a three course seated dinner expertly prepared by the chefs at Devils Thumb Ranch followed by cake from Kelly Kakes. While Chris didn’t get his pirate cake, he did get a cake shaped like a glass of Guinness complete with cake soaked in Guinness.
Guests danced the night away to live music from the Filthy Children band. This group kept the party going at the Hex bar well into the morning! Thank you to Document the Day for capturing this couple perfectly.
While we all love traditional pictures, I had to include a collage that shows Kate and Chris’ amazing love, sense of humor, and fantastic personalities. It was a pleasure being able to help create their perfect day. We wish them a lifetime of love, laughter and family!
