Hilary and Lee’s wedding is a great example of how a Colorado mountain wedding need not be rustic or casual, but can be personalized to reflect the personalities and style of the couple, as well as the surroundings.
Hilary and Lee were such a delight to work with, laid back and always cheerful – it was hard not to be with Hilary’s infectious and ever present giggle!
The couple had gravitated towards a contemporary look and feel for their wedding, but still wanted to embrace the splendor of the surrounding mountains. Not surprisingly, they also wanted a substantial infusion of fun.
Aspen Meadows Resort was the perfect venue choice, offering modern architecture and clean lines, encircled by aspen covered hills and dramatic mountain slopes.
To bring Hilary and Lee’s vision to life we developed a beautiful watercolor palette for the wedding, that would accentuate rather than detract from the surrounding fall splendor. We began with a gorgeous invitation suite by Sweet Zion Paperie, who created a custom watercolor of the exact mountain view that guests would see from the outdoor ceremony site in the resort’s Anderson Park. Included with the invitation was an adorable treasure map, leading guests from Denver to Aspen, but showing the couple’s favorite spots and landmarks along the way.
Unfortunately the wedding day brought chilly temperatures and hard rain, requiring the ceremony to be brought indoors (seamlessly handled by Aspen Meadows’ great crew). But who knew that the glitch in the weather would itself evoke a stunning “natural” watercolor! The fall colors became lusciously vibrant against the softened edges of the landscape, and made for stunning photography by Jason & Gina.
The weather did not suppress the couple’s spirits, or that of their adorable dog and ring bearer. As would be expected, the ceremony was filled with much merriment.
Following the ceremony the watercolor feel was captured in the reception decor with coordinating linens in mixed shades, as well as customized signage, menus, table numbers and escort cards. The cake was designed to reflect the palette of the invitation.
After dinner the wedding party and guests were treated to the terrific talents of the Syndicate Band. And to close the evening, who could resist a late night snack bar of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches!
We wish Hilary and Lee the absolute best of a laughter-filled life together!
